Legendary alternative rock band Yellowcard officially returns with their brand-new album Better Days, their first full-length release in almost ten years. The opening and lead single, “Better Days,” immediately marks their comeback with a historic achievement: the song reached #1 on the Alternative Radio chart their first time topping the chart in 22 years since debut, setting a new record for the longest gap to a first #1 in the format.
The album is crafted under the creative vision of Travis Barker (Blink-182), who serves as Executive Producer and plays drums across the entire record. “Better Days” reflects gratitude, forgiveness, and rediscovered purpose presenting a more mature Yellowcard sound while preserving the band’s signature energy. The classic lineup of William Ryan Key, Sean Mackin, Ryan Mendez, and Josh Portman delivers their strongest chemistry to date.
🤝 Highlight Collaboration: “You Broke Me Too” feat. Avril Lavigne:
One of the album’s standout moments is “You Broke Me Too,” featuring pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne.
Avril shared:
“Travis called and told me he was producing Yellowcard’s new album. When he played me this song, I instantly loved it. It’s an anthem for anyone searching for new hope after heartbreak.”
Ryan Key added:
“Working with Avril was an incredible experience. Her voice blends perfectly with Yellowcard’s classic feel it was like revisiting our golden era.”
Avril’s presence makes the track one of the most emotionally impactful moments on the album.
🎶 Behind the Creative Process of Better Days:
Yellowcard approached this project with one principle: they would only release a new album if they felt they could create the best work of their career. They slowed down the creative process, opened space for collaboration, and brought in songwriter Nick Long. This eventually led to an unexpected studio meeting with Travis Barker.
Barker Shared:
“Sometimes the world just brings the right people together at the right time. The moment we stepped into the studio, the magic was there.”
The album also features a collaboration with Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) on “Love Letters Lost,” adding emotional depth and a sense of nostalgia to the record.
Yellowcard calls Better Days an album that not only marks their comeback but also becomes one of the most defining works of their career.
